We all love sharing photos online– photos of parties, holiday gatherings, new births, family reunions, and a whole lot more.

Now with QWiPS, you can transform previously silent photos into engaging multimedia experiences (we call them QwipPic™) by quickly and easily adding background music, frames, and the texture, passion and authenticity of spoken voice captions. Here’s a selection of QwipPic™ that demonstrate different ways to transform your photos:

Backstory about a celeb’s baseball cap logo: http://qwips.com/4j5zx8

Reality show photo caption contest: http://qwips.com/5pyshx

Digital photo swag at Super Bowl 2012 party in Indy: http://qwips.com/57ehsn

Holiday card using stock Qwip’s photo + auto tune effect: http://qwips.com/31sas3

Birthday eCard with sound, auto tune, stock frame + photo: http://qwips.com/7nbad2

As you can see and hear, using QWiPS to add voice captions, soundtracks and frames, is almost as fun as taking your photos in the first place! Here’s how to get started:

Step 1
Download the free QWiPS app from the Apple app store

Step 2
Click the Photo button on the lower left. Take a new photo or click “Choose From Library” and pick a photo you’ve already taken.

Step 3
Once you have a photo, you’re ready to record up to a 30 second QwipPic™ voice caption. Tap the blue record button and start speaking. While a picture may be worth a thousand words, your friends want to hear the story behind the photo. Make it insightful and fun. Be creative. Tell a joke or interesting tidbit or anecdote related to the photo.

Step 4
Now you’re ready to 1-click share your QwipPic™ to Facebook, Twitter, any web site or blog, or via email or SMS. Just type a comment, click and you’re done.

Step 5 (Optional)
Spice up your QwipPic™ by eQwipping ™ your creation with a soundtrack, auto-tuned voice, frame or other cool effect. It’s easy. Before you share, just click the “Add Effects” button on the upper right of the share screen and select the effects you want to apply. You can preview them, save or discard and try others as many times as you want. QWiPS effects is like Instagram but for Voice. Have fun and experiment.

Voice captioned photos are fun, engaging and loaded with self-expression. With QWiPS effects you can auto tune your voice to sound like an alien or chipmunk, can add an interesting soundtrack, frame your photo or even choose a stock image to replace your photo.

So what are you waiting for? Download the QWiPS app now and turn your silent photos into engaging, multimedia QwipPics™.

Qwip On!

Passionate foodies have long been early adopters of technology to share their culinary passions. First, foodies talked about what they were eating on Twitter. Then, with the debut of Twitpic, photos of sumptuous meals soon followed. Now the evolution continues with two new technologies from QWiPS: (i) QwipPic™ voice-captions, and (ii) eQwip™ voice effects and filters. Check out two favorite examples from this past Valentines Day:

Oysters from my Valentine! http://qwips.com/1ix771

Look what my Valentine made for me!!! http://qwips.com/7j4ehe

As you can see and hear, QWiPS transforms previously silent food photos into engaging multimedia experiences by cleverly combining background music and the texture, passion and authenticity of your spoken voice: describe how you lovingly prepared a dish; how a food choice perfectly complemented a wine or special occasion; share delectable food stories or recipes you love; and finish it with a soundtrack adding another dimension to your self-expression about the food event you’re sharing.

QWiPS is fast and easy to use and with QWiPS it’s almost as much fun narrating and putting sound to food photos as it is preparing and devouring those fabulous dishes!

Here’s how to get started:

Step 1
Download the free QWiPS app from the Apple app store and open it

Step 2
Click the Photo button on the lower left. Take a photo of your delish dish or click “Choose From Library” and pick a photo you’ve already taken of your favorite food delights.

Step 3
Once you have a photo, you’re ready to record up to a 30 second QwipPic™ voice caption. Tap the blue record button and start speaking. While a picture may be worth a thousand words, your friends want to hear interesting tidbits and anecdotes about the food. Make your Qwip insightful and fun.

Step 4
Now you’re ready to 1-click share your QwipPic™ to Facebook, Twitter, any other site or blog, or via email or SMS

Step 5 (Optional)
Spice up your QwipPic™ and make it a tantalizing, multimedia, foodie-photo sensation, by eQwipping ™ your creation with a soundtrack, auto-tuned voice, a frame or other cool effect. Before you share, click the “Add Effects” button on the upper right of the share screen. In the Add Effects section QWiPS is like Instagram for voice; have fun and experiment.

That’s it for today. Qwip on Foodies.

Day 2 of my Great QWiPS Blog Adventure.

Not sure why this is such a big deal for me but the two times I’ve approached the keyboard to write this blog I’ve done so with a mixture of excitement and trepidation. What will I say? Does anyone care? Will I piss someone off? What if an Internet crazy decides they don’t like me? Like any good entrepreneur I have no choice but to compartmentalize the doubts and jump right in. For Day 2 I’ve decided to share a secret feature we’ve hidden in the Qwips App.

Secret Agent Man
Growing up I loved the James Bond movies (still do), The Saint TV show, John Le Carre and almost any cold war or WWII espionage novel. I’m not sure if I was drawn to the action, suspense or plots. But I do know one thing– like a lot of kids I didn’t want to be a doctor, policeman or accountant. I wanted to be a spy. Those fantasies quickly met the reality of life, as I never got a call from the CIA.

The years flew by and today I’m glad I never got into black-ops. In my heart though, there still lurks a secret agent man. Thanks to my day job as founder and lead innovator for QWiPS, I’ve been able to satisfy the spy within me with a fun and probably irrelevant feature we call Self Destructing Qwips (SDQs.) SDQs were inspired by MI6 but informed by celebrity transgressions and dating fiascos publically revealed through the history of saved voice mails and photos. Who needs those headaches? How could secret agent man help?

Good Afternoon Mr. Phelps

The most top secret message is one that self-destructs (“This message, Mr. Phelps, will self-destruct in…”). Qwips is bringing secret messages mainstream. Simply record a Qwip, include any confidential spoken message, photo, or written text (love notes, PIN codes, address for a clandestine meeting, etc.) and when done click the SDQ button on the QWiPS share screen. When a recipient receives your SDQ the information is unlocked, played and can never be seen, read or listened to again. Self-Destructing Qwips are great for people on the run, those who want to leave no trail of where they were, where they’re going, what photos they took or what they said.

Encryption
The free version of Self-Destruction Qwips does not include encryption. But if enough people ask for it we’ll offer encryption for a small fee.

Just Q It!
SDQs are fun, easy and should satisfy the hidden secret agent in all of us. Just the other day my 15 year old son was running a covert “school lunch” operation with a couple of his friends that SDQs would have been great for. The Victoria Secret runway models are constantly doing undercover work that SDQs could seriously help with, and on Wall Street there’s a whole lot of cloak-and-dagger scenarios and clandestine meetings for which SDQs are an excellent choice!

Enjoy and Qwip on.

Hi there. Im excited to launch the QWiPS blog simultaneously with the launch of QWiPS’ brand new Word Press plug-in. As QWiPS’ founder I’ll be practicing what we preach and try, with each post, to include one of more interesting Qwips from me or the QWiPStream.

For example, this week we have a nice activation with Lincoln Center and Fashion Week New York 2012. Check out this great QwipPic from Derek the stylist who’s absolutely killing it: http://qwips.com/2kv45h You can hear all the Fashion Week Qwips at Lincoln Center’s website: fashionlincolncenter.org.

Last week we were at the Super Bowl embedded in two great live-event activations with ESPN and Maxim. Check out this red carpet Qwip by the ESPN party host telling the story behind his nickname DatDude: http://qwips.com/65fz6l . And here’s a smoking hot QwipPic from Maxim’s wild and crazy Super Hero themed party: http://qwips.com/8it7qh

The QWiPS Word Press plug-in not only allows me to seamlessly insert my spoken voice into this blog (this QwipPic is of my daughter and teammates at the Disney Soccer Showcase): http://qwips.com/7nzoit ) but gives you, the reader a social media soapbox for your real voice to be heard. You can QwipBack in your voice to any individual Qwip (click on the QwipBack button in any Qwips player), or to comment on this post using your spoken voice.

While it may take me a while to find my WP voice (pun intended) this blog will always strive to provide interesting and entertaining cases, insights and uses of QWiPS along with thoughts on the industry, new and interesting technologies, and more.

Thanks for going with me on this ride. http://qwips.com/56src7
